Small Plates LLC, doing business as Small Plates & Co. ("we," "us," "our"), respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect information when you visit our website at smallplatesandcompany.com (the "Site") and use our services (the "Service").

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Information You Provide to Us

Account Information (Customers): When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and password. If you purchase a book, we also collect the names of the couple the book is for.

Payment Information: When you make a purchase, our third-party payment processors (Stripe and/or Gumroad) collect your payment information, including credit card number, billing address, and shipping address. We do not store your full credit card information on our servers. We receive only a confirmation of payment and the last four digits of your card for reference.

Shipping Information: We collect the shipping name and address you provide for delivery of your book.

Guest Contributions: When guests contribute to a book project, we collect their name, their submitted recipe (including ingredients and instructions), a personal message to the couple, and optionally, photographs. Guests may submit this information without creating an account.

1.2 Information Collected Automatically

When you visit the Site, we and our third-party service providers may automatically collect certain information, including:

(a) Device and browser information (such as browser type, operating system, and screen resolution);

(b) IP address and approximate geographic location;

(c) Pages visited, time spent on pages, and navigation paths;

(d) Referring website or source that directed you to the Site;

(e) Date and time of your visit.

We collect this information through cookies and similar technologies, as described in Section 5 of this Privacy Policy.

1.3 Information We Do Not Collect

We do not knowingly collect sensitive personal information such as Social Security numbers, government-issued identification numbers, financial account numbers (other than through our payment processors), health information, or biometric data.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect for the following purposes:

(a) To provide the Service, including creating, designing, printing, and delivering your collaborative recipe book;

(b) To process payments and fulfill orders;

(c) To communicate with you about your order, account, or our Service;

(d) To format and edit submitted recipes for clarity and consistency, including through the use of AI-powered tools;

(e) To generate complementary images for the book using AI tools, based on submitted recipe content;

(f) To respond to your questions, comments, or requests;

(g) To understand how visitors use our Site and improve the Service;

(h) To comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.

3. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties. We may share your information in the following limited circumstances:

Guest Content in Printed Books: Recipes, personal messages, and photos submitted by guests will be printed in a physical book and delivered to the Customer who created the project. By submitting content, guests acknowledge that their name, recipe, message, and photos will appear in a printed book that will be in the possession of the Customer.

Payment Processors: We share necessary transaction information with Stripe and/or Gumroad to process your payments. These processors have their own privacy policies governing their use of your information.

Printing and Fulfillment Partners: We share the content of your book (including guest-submitted recipes, messages, and photos) with our printing and fulfillment partners solely for the purpose of producing and delivering your book. Our partners are contractually required to use this information only for fulfilling your order.

AI Service Providers: We use third-party AI services (such as OpenAI) to assist with recipe formatting and image generation. Recipe text may be processed by these services. We do not share your name, email, payment information, or other identifying information with AI service providers.

Analytics Providers: We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use our Site. Google may collect and process data about your browsing activity on our Site in accordance with Google's privacy policy. Google's use of this data is governed by Google's Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.

Legal Requirements: We may disclose your information if required to do so by law, legal process, or government request, or if we believe disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, your safety, or the safety of others.

4. Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as necessary to provide the Service and fulfill the purposes described in this Privacy Policy. Specifically:

(a) Account information is retained for as long as your account is active, plus a reasonable period afterward for record-keeping and legal compliance;

(b) Order and payment records are retained for at least seven (7) years for tax and accounting purposes;

(c) Guest-submitted content (recipes, messages, photos) is retained for as long as needed to produce the book, plus a reasonable backup period;

(d) If you request deletion of your data, we will comply within thirty (30) days, subject to our legal obligations to retain certain records.

5. Cookies and Analytics

5.1 What Are Cookies

Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They help website operators understand how visitors use their site and improve the user experience.

5.2 How We Use Cookies

We use Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google LLC, to help us understand how visitors interact with our Site. Google Analytics uses cookies to collect information such as how often users visit the Site, what pages they visit, and what other sites they visited before coming to our Site.

Google Analytics collects only the IP address assigned to you on the date you visit the Site, rather than your name or other identifying information. We do not combine the information collected through Google Analytics with personally identifiable information.

5.4 Do Not Track

Some browsers offer a "Do Not Track" (DNT) feature. We currently do not respond to DNT signals, as there is no industry-standard protocol for DNT at this time.

We implement reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your personal information. However, no method of transmission over the Internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security of your data.

Your account is protected by a password. You are responsible for keeping your password confidential and for any activity under your account.

7.1 All Users

You have the right to:

(a) Access the personal information we hold about you;

(b) Request correction of inaccurate information;

(c) Request deletion of your personal information, subject to our legal retention obligations;

(d) Withdraw consent for future processing of your data.

If you are located outside the United States, please be aware that your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States, where our servers and operations are located. By using the Service, you consent to this transfer and processing.

8. Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
