Small Plates LLC d/b/a Small Plates & Co.

Last updated: June 1, 2026

Small Plates LLC, doing business as Small Plates & Co. ("we," "us," "our"), respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, retain, and protect information when you visit our website at smallplatesandcompany.com (the "Site") and use our services (the "Service").

By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Information You Provide to Us

Account Information (Customers / Organizers): When you create an account, we collect your name and email address. Creating an account and a project is free; you do not need to make a purchase to create an account. We use passwordless and third-party sign-in methods (such as one-time email sign-in links and Sign in with Google), so in most cases we do not collect or store a password for you. If you create a project, we may also collect details about the project, such as the names of the couple or honoree the book is for and the event date.

Sign in with Google / Third-Party Sign-In: If you choose to sign in with Google, we receive basic profile information from your Google account, such as your name, email address, and account identifier, to create and authenticate your account. We use information received from Google only to provide and improve the Service, in compliance with the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. We do not use it for advertising and do not transfer or sell it. Your use of Sign in with Google is also governed by Google's own terms and privacy policy. You can manage or revoke this connection in your Google account settings.

Payment Information: When you make a purchase, our third-party payment processors (Stripe and/or Gumroad) collect your payment information, including credit card number, billing address, and shipping address. We do not store your full credit card information on our servers. We receive only a confirmation of payment and the last four digits of your card for reference.

Shipping Information: If you order a printed book, we collect the shipping name and address you provide for delivery.

Guest Contributions: When guests contribute to a project, we collect their name, their submitted recipe (including ingredients and instructions), a personal message, and optionally, photographs. Guests may submit this information without creating an account.

Communications: If you contact us for support or otherwise communicate with us, we collect the information you provide in those communications.

1.2 Information Collected Automatically

When you visit the Site, we and our third-party service providers may automatically collect certain information, including:

(a) Device and browser information (such as browser type, operating system, and screen resolution);

(b) IP address and approximate geographic location;

(c) Pages visited, time spent on pages, and navigation paths;

(d) Referring website or source that directed you to the Site;

(e) Date and time of your visit.

We collect this information through cookies and similar technologies, as described in Section 5 of this Privacy Policy.

1.3 Information We Do Not Collect

We do not knowingly collect sensitive personal information such as Social Security numbers, government-issued identification numbers, financial account numbers (other than through our payment processors), health information, or biometric data.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect for the following purposes:

(a) To provide and operate the Service, including creating and hosting your project, collecting and displaying guest contributions, generating digital samples, and designing, printing, and delivering your collaborative recipe book;

(b) To create and authenticate your account, including through email sign-in links and third-party sign-in providers;

(c) To process payments and fulfill orders;

(d) To communicate with you about your account, project, or order, including transactional and operational messages such as invitations, reminders, and status updates;

(e) With your consent where required, to send you marketing or promotional messages about our Service, which you can opt out of at any time;

(f) To format and edit submitted recipes for clarity and consistency, including through the use of AI-powered tools;

(g) To generate complementary images for the book using AI tools, based on submitted recipe content;

(h) To respond to your questions, comments, or requests;

(i) To understand how visitors use our Site, prevent fraud and abuse, and improve the Service;

(j) To comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.

3. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for their own marketing purposes. We may share your information in the following limited circumstances:

Guest Content Within Projects and Printed Books: Recipes, personal messages, and photos submitted by guests are made available to the Customer who created the project, who can view them within the Service and may choose to include them in a printed book delivered to them. By submitting content, guests acknowledge that their name, recipe, message, and photos will be visible to the project's Customer within the Service, and — if the Customer orders a book — will appear in a printed book in the Customer's possession.

Payment Processors: We share necessary transaction information with Stripe and/or Gumroad to process your payments. These processors have their own privacy policies governing their use of your information.

Sign-In and Email Providers: We use third-party providers to authenticate accounts (such as our sign-in provider and Google) and to send transactional and operational email (such as our email delivery provider). These providers process the information necessary to perform those services on our behalf.

Printing and Fulfillment Partners: We share the content of your book (including guest-submitted recipes, messages, and photos) with our printing and fulfillment partners solely to produce and deliver your book. Our partners are contractually required to use this information only for fulfilling your order.

AI Service Providers: We use third-party AI services (such as OpenAI) to assist with recipe formatting and image generation. Recipe text may be processed by these services. We do not share your name, email, payment information, or other identifying information with AI service providers, and we do not permit them to use your content to train their models for unrelated purposes.

Analytics Providers: We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use our Site, as described in Section 5.

Business Transfers: If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to this Privacy Policy.

Legal Requirements and Safety: We may disclose your information if required to do so by law, legal process, or government request, or if we believe disclosure is reasonably necessary to protect our rights, enforce our Terms, prevent fraud or abuse, or protect the safety of any person.

4. Data Retention and Deletion

We retain your personal information for as long as necessary to provide the Service and fulfill the purposes described in this Privacy Policy. Specifically:

(a) Account information is retained for as long as your account is active, plus a reasonable period afterward for record-keeping and legal compliance;

(b) Order and payment records are retained for at least seven (7) years for tax and accounting purposes;

(c) Project and guest-submitted content (recipes, messages, photos) is retained for as long as your project is active so that you and your guests can access it. If a project remains inactive and no book is ordered, we may retain its content for a reasonable period and then delete it, and we may notify you before doing so where appropriate;

(d) You may request deletion of your account and associated content at any time by contacting us at team@smallplatesandcompany.com, and where available you may delete content directly within the Service. We will honor deletion requests within thirty (30) days, subject to information we are required or permitted to retain for legal, accounting, fraud-prevention, or dispute-resolution purposes.

5. Cookies and Analytics

5.1 What Are Cookies

Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They help website operators understand how visitors use their site and improve the user experience. We also use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in and remember your settings.

5.2 How We Use Cookies

We use Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google LLC, to help us understand how visitors interact with our Site. Google Analytics uses cookies to collect information such as how often users visit the Site, what pages they visit, and what other sites they visited before coming to our Site.

Google Analytics collects the IP address assigned to you on the date you visit the Site rather than your name or other identifying information. We do not combine the information collected through Google Analytics with personally identifiable information.

5.3 Your Choices

You can control cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to refuse cookies, delete existing cookies, or alert you when a cookie is being set. Please note that disabling certain cookies may affect features such as staying signed in.

You can opt out of Google Analytics by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, available at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.

5.4 Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control

Some browsers offer a "Do Not Track" (DNT) feature. There is no industry-standard protocol for DNT, and we currently do not respond to DNT signals. Where required by applicable law, we honor recognized opt-out preference signals such as Global Privacy Control (GPC).

6. Data Security

We implement reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your personal information, including encryption in transit, access controls, and vendor due diligence. However, no method of transmission over the Internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security of your data.

Because we use passwordless and third-party sign-in, the security of the email account or third-party account you use to access the Service is important. You are responsible for keeping that account secure and for any activity under your account.

7. Your Rights

7.1 All Users

You have the right to:

(a) Access the personal information we hold about you;

(b) Request correction of inaccurate information;

(c) Request deletion of your personal information, subject to our legal retention obligations;

(d) Withdraw consent for future processing of your data, including opting out of marketing communications.

To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at team@smallplatesandcompany.com. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights, and we will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law (typically within 30–45 days).

7.2 California Residents

If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CCPA/CPRA), including the right to know what personal information we collect, the right to request correction or deletion, and the right to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information. We do not sell your personal information. To the extent any disclosure to analytics or advertising providers constitutes "sharing" under the CPRA, you may opt out by contacting us at the email address above or by using any "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" mechanism we provide, and we honor Global Privacy Control signals. You may use an authorized agent to exercise your rights.

7.3 Other U.S. State Privacy Laws

If you are a resident of another state with a comprehensive privacy law (such as Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Texas, Oregon, Montana, and others), you may have similar rights to access, correct, delete, or port your personal information and to opt out of targeted advertising, sale, or certain profiling. You can exercise these rights by contacting us at team@smallplatesandcompany.com.

7.4 International Users

If you are located outside the United States, please be aware that your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States, where our servers and operations are located. By using the Service, you consent to this transfer and processing. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards (such as Standard Contractual Clauses) for international transfers.

8. Children's Privacy

The Service is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without verifiable parental consent, in compliance with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). If you submit content that includes images or information about a child, you must have the consent of that child's parent or legal guardian. If you believe we have collected information from a child under 13 without consent, please contact us immediately at team@smallplatesandcompany.com, and we will take steps to delete such information.

9. Third-Party Links

The Site may contain links to third-party websites or services. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these third parties. We encourage you to read the privacy policies of any third-party sites you visit.

10. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will post the updated policy on the Site with a new "Last updated" date and, where appropriate, provide additional notice. Your continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised Privacy Policy.
