The Photographs

Two kinds of photograph, one book.

A photographer comes for the people, the hands and the room. Our studio makes every other dish from its recipe, in the same light. Every image is composed and reviewed by hand, by people, so no page is left without its picture.

From the page to the plate

What they wrote, and what we made of it.

  • From Aunt Ruth

    Pecan Pie

“Pecans on top, whole, not chopped. Pull it when the middle still moves a little. The crust goes darker than you'd think. That's right.”

  • From Daniel

    Roasted Sweet Potatoes

“Cubes, a hot oven, and leave them alone until the edges burn a little. Pomegranate at the end, because Mom said it needs color.”

  • From Priya

    Chaat

“Crispy potatoes, cold yogurt, both chutneys, the green and the tamarind. Red onion, a fistful of sev. Eat it before it goes soft.”
