How it works.

The invitation shared from a phone

01

You invite.

Share a link, an email, or a QR code. Whatever actually reaches your people. The ask for a recipe comes built in, so you are not explaining it over and over.

In a club

You name the club first and set the rules. Members, not guests.

Someone sending a recipe from a phone

02

They send a recipe.

They type it out or snap a photo of the card, and sign it. Five minutes, no app, no account. A recipe and a note, in their words.

03

We make the book.

We make an image of every dish, design every page, and print the hardcover. A person reads the whole book before it goes to press, then it ships to your door.

In a club

One copy per member ships in the same box, and the club stays open for the next edition.

What you get

Everything you need to get the recipes in.

The Cookbook Club

Nº 01 · Est. 2026

A club around the table, late, still talking
The Sunday Club · Brooklyn · Nine members

A cookbook club is what happens when cooking for each other stops being an accident. It gets a name. It gets rules. Everyone in it cooks something better than you do, and now you have the recipe.

We make the book the club writes. Everyone shares the recipes they actually cook at home, each one signed by the person who sent it, printed in hardcover, one copy each. No occasion, nobody to surprise. Another way to share what you cook, with the people who would all be at the same table if they could.

The

Wedding Cookbook

The wedding gift they’ll use on a Tuesday.

Both families, and the friends who are basically family. Everyone sends the dish they are known for, and it comes back as a hardcover with their names in it.

Ink drawing of two wedding rings

Family and friends, one index.

The rice from one grandmother, the mole from the other side, your roommate's pasta at 2am, the cousin who swears they don't cook.

Ink drawing of two aprons hanging

Captains chase their own side.

Name a sister, a best friend, someone from the other family. They get the same dashboard you do and go after their own list, so it stops being yours alone.

Ink drawing of two champagne glasses toasting

Not only the wedding day.

Bridal showers, engagements, anniversaries. Same book, another reason to hand it over.

The wedding lasts a day. The people in it stay in the kitchen.

  • Premium hardcover, 8 × 10 in.
  • An image of every dish
  • An index of names

Real notes, word for word

A recipe tells you how. What they write tells you who.

Notes that bring the people who shared them to your table.

Ice Cold Beers

Some of my best conversations with Michael have been over a cold beer. No rush, no agenda — just time to catch up and laugh. This is less of a recipe and more of a reminder: always make time for the people you love.

PEOPLE WHO GOT ONE

What happens after it arrives.

This is the most thoughtful gift my partner and I have ever received. The book is beautiful and of great quality, but most of all, it made us feel so appreciated by everyone who sent a recipe. The Small Plates team was amazing, thank you!

When we opened the book I cried so much haha… The people we love most giving us a little piece of themselves, of their kitchens, of their stories — what an enormous privilege!! For us this book isn't just recipes, it's having everyone with us in this new chapter, in the most beautiful, everyday way there is.

Couple — the day the book arrived

Translated from Spanish

We did this as an anniversary gift and it was one of the most meaningful things we've done since our wedding. Small Plates and Company gives your family and friends a chance to bring their favorite recipes into your home and you get the meals that matter to the people you love. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a thoughtful gift they'll use all the time.

Questions?

Do I need to upload a photo of the finished dish?

No. Just the recipe itself. We create every image for your book, and that's what makes it cohesive and beautiful.

What if some guests don't cook?

Perfect. They can send a takeout order they'd die for. A sandwich they get every time. It's not about being a chef, it's about being in the book.

What if guests don't send their recipes?

You can see who's missing and nudge all of them with one click. Most books end up with 30 to 50+ recipes. People want to be part of this.

How long does it take?

Guests need about 5 minutes to submit. The whole process, from invites to printed book, takes 4 to 6 weeks.

How is a club different from a gift book?

A gift book is for someone else, and they see nothing until it arrives. A club is a group writing one for itself: members instead of guests, rules instead of an occasion, and it stays open so the next edition can happen.

When do I pay?

When the book is ready to print, not before. You build the whole thing for free.

Where do you ship?

United States and Mexico. Your book gets there.
